This week in St. Maarten was the perfect balance of work, adventure, and quality time with family and friends. From conducting primary research in Mullet Bay to experiencing one of the most thrilling attractions on the island, every day brought something memorable.

One of the biggest highlights of the week was continuing my primary research interviews in Mullet Bay. Spending time in the community and hearing directly from local residents and visitors gave me valuable insight for my project. Walking through the area, observing daily life, and engaging in conversations allowed me to better understand the perspectives of the people who experience Mullet Bay firsthand. Conducting interviews in such a beautiful location also made the process even more enjoyable. The beach atmosphere, warm weather, and welcoming energy of the island created a positive environment for meaningful discussions.

In between research activities, I also had the opportunity to spend quality time with my family over an unforgettable dinner at Bistrot Caraibes. The restaurant offered a unique dining experience where we were able to personally select our lobsters before the meal was prepared. Seeing the fresh seafood up close made the dinner feel even more special and authentic to the Caribbean experience.

The night was filled with laughter, conversation, and excitement as we each picked out our lobsters and waited to enjoy dinner together. The food was incredible, and the experience itself was something I will always remember. It was one of those moments that perfectly captures the joy of traveling and spending time with loved ones.

Another major highlight of the week was zip lining on the Flying Dutchman with friends and family. Known as the steepest zipline in the world, the Flying Dutchman was both thrilling and slightly intimidating at first. The adventure began high in the mountains, where the views overlooking the island and ocean were absolutely breathtaking. Standing at the top and looking out over St. Maarten was an unforgettable experience on its own.

As we geared up and prepared for the ride down, the anticipation grew. Once I finally launched off the platform, the adrenaline rush was incredible. Flying down the mountain at high speed while taking in the stunning scenery made the experience unlike anything I had ever done before. Although it was nerve-wracking at first, it quickly became one of the most exciting moments of the trip.

What made the experience even better was sharing it with friends and family. Everyone encouraged each other, laughed through the nerves, and celebrated after completing the ride. It was an adventure that brought us all closer together and created memories we will definitely talk about for years to come.

Overall, this week was a reminder of how rewarding it can be to balance academic work with opportunities to explore, connect, and create memories. Between conducting research in Mullet Bay, enjoying dinner with family at Bistro, and conquering the Flying Dutchman zipline, the week was filled with experiences that were both meaningful and unforgettable.
